The Hampton Inn and Suites at Jekyll Island, situated just a short walk from the beach through the maritime forest, draws inspiration from its tranquil surroundings and proximity to the beach. This project serves as a testament to The Allied Group’s ability to deliver a transformative renovation defined by expert craftsmanship and attention to detail, and the ability to navigate unforeseen challenges while staying on schedule with minimal guest disruption.
The extensive transformation spanned 138 guestrooms and bathrooms, the lobby, public spaces, and the exterior—reimagining the property with a soothing, modernized aesthetic. In the guestrooms, The Allied Group installed new FF&E, carpet, baseboards, paint, and entry tile. Guest bathrooms received a complete overhaul, including new tile, upgraded fixtures and plumbing accessories, and new vanity bases and tops.
Beyond the guestrooms, our team renovated corridors, elevator lobbies, and vending areas—installing fresh flooring, wall sconces, and paint to unify the space with a cohesive, updated look. A carefully curated color palette of ocean blues, crisp greens, and sun-bleached neutrals evokes the calm, natural beauty of the island. A highlight of the project is the lobby renovation, which includes significant enhancements to the business center, public restrooms, buffet area, meeting room, and fitness center. The Allied team fabricated and installed new millwork, new stone tops, fresh paint, updated FF&E, lighting, carpet, flooring, and finishes to complete the refreshed look.
A major challenge during the project was the Longshoreman strike, which delayed delivery of owner-supplied materials. To mitigate this, our team quickly adjusted and offered solutions by storing existing product on site and reinstalling where needed temporarily in order to keep the hotel’s occupancy as high as possible during the renovation. Despite weather disruptions, including a hurricane, the project team maintained momentum through flexible scheduling and onsite adjustments, successfully delivering a revitalized hotel with minimal guest impact.
